When it comes to your reception, you may (or may not) give a lot of thought to your centrepieces for each table. Some choose to not have centrepieces, but instead popularly opt for table runners, leaves and some white flowers which always looks amazing, whilst others choose a more traditional centrepiece for each table.
Typically larger centrepieces are chosen for round tables. However, did you know that your centrepiece choice could actually play a major impact on your guests and their enjoyment of the reception?
Why Your Centrepiece Choice Really Matters?
Because I have sadly too often seen impressive centrepieces that adorn the middle of the table, but also blocks the view and conversation from those sitting on the opposite side of the table.
If you are having a centrepiece, remember to keep it low enough so that it doesn’t impact the conversation of your guests. Afterall, weddings are all about catching up with family and friends and good conversation over a meal.
If you are having a centrepiece that has those little jelly like balls be mindful you may be up for an unexpected cleaning bill from your venue. I have (almost every time I have seen those jelly balls) seen them become a source of entertainment for guests that have had a few too many drinks as they throw them at each other across the room leaving a huge mess for the venue to clean up later.
One of the most fun centrepieces I suggested to a couple was to forego the traditional centrepiece altogether and instead put a game on each table. The sort of fun party games that don’t require much concentration. Things like Connect4, Hungry Hippos and games like that. It was great to see how much entertainment and fun the guests got out of the games as they played and then swapped games with another table.
At the end of the day, your wedding reception is all about entertainment. A static centrepiece (whilst it looks impressive) does nothing to entertain your guests or keep them having fun. Consider games instead.
