Having a live Gold Coast musician at your wedding really adds a great atmosphere for you and your guests. There is nothing more satisfying or cool than the organic sound of an acoustic guitar and vocals. It really adds that “something special” to any wedding.
I have been fortunate to have received multiple ABIA awards in the live musician category.
I also love to provide jazz vocals over dinner. Covers of popular crooners like Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Robbie Williams adds a real touch of class over the dinner part of the reception.
I am an accomplished wedding musician on the Gold Coast. I started playing instruments from the tender age of 8 years old when I played drums for a family band at paid events. You could say entertainment and musicianship is in my blood. Since then I progressed around the age of 14 to the guitar and fell in love with it.
There is rarely a day that has gone by since I first picked up the guitar that I haven’t picked it up every day and played it. I find it relaxing and love giving others the gift of the sounds that I can create. There is something magic in being able to create music without any backing tracks or other musicians. Just me and the guitar.
I also use something that is very popular now (since Ed Sheeran brought it to the forefront), and that is creating loops. This is a simple pedal which means I can play something and have it loop live and then play something else over the top. This means that I create the entire sound right there live, but gives a bigger sound (when required) for some songs. I can create a drum beat for instance using nothing more than my guitar and the looper.
I am adding to my already extensive collection of songs on a regular basis and am happy to learn new songs especially for your wedding. I frequently get asked to learn new songs and am happy to do so.
I like to take well known songs and give them a slight twist to make them unique and interesting. I even take songs well outside of what most would consider an “acoustic” style and turn them into an interesting rendition. For example, “Shut Up And Dance” by Walk The Moon is very much a dance track, but I have given it a unique treatment to make it sound great as an acoustic cover.
Make your wedding day that little bit more special by adding my services as a live acoustic wedding musician.
Here are just a couple of samples recorded live here in our office. If you like what you hear, there are a lot more samples on our YouTube Channel. These recordings are live and unedited, so what you hear is what you can expect to hear live. This is important as many artists will only provide you with polished, edited versions that were done in a studio. This is not a true reflection of what they sound like live.
We hope you enjoy these couple of samples and invite you to ask about our Gold Coast Wedding Musician services. Of course, we also provide DJ and MC services too!
Be sure to check out our Facebook page where you can find some acoustic and jazz live stream sessions.
What’s so special about having a live musician for your wedding day?
Well … sure, you could just have background music for the canape section of your wedding, but adding a live musician really adds an element of excitement and class for your guests whilst you are away having your photos. It also shows that you have not just “dumped” your guests to entertain themselves whilst they await your return. It shows that you have thought about them and provided with something a little extra … a little special.
Consider also that a Gold Coast wedding musician has spent many years, a lot of money and a lot of time (and in the case of guitar playing, pain) in honing their skills to provide you with music. Music created by a musician is a little extra special as this is music being created right before your guests eyes. Not just something pre-recorded being played without much thought.
What sort of music do you play?
That is a great question we often get. To be honest it varies from event to event. My list of songs that I am comfortable with is very extensive, so I have a large library of songs I am familiar with to draw on. This means that I can perform different songs for each and every wedding, tailoring it to the individual wedding. Some musicians only know a limited list of songs, so each wedding gets the same few songs. I am happy enough to know hundreds of songs. What this means is that I can tailor and assess what “feels right” to each and every wedding. No two weddings are the same. That’s what I love about being a wedding musician.
Can we request special songs?
Absolutely you can! I encourage it. I love to know that I am playing songs that mean something special to you. I am happy to learn songs for your walk down the aisle, signing of the registry and the recessional. I am honest and if I don’t think I can do it will let you know, otherwise I will try my best to learn the song and send you an video email with me performing the song for your approval prior to the day.
I am building my list on a regular basis and adding more and more songs. Some of the current artists I cover includes –
I like to add non-typical songs to cover as well, including songs that most people would only associate as being sung by a girl. Such as my version of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” as made famous by Cyndi Lauper.
I try not to limit myself to just one type of music. I understand that not all your guests will like just one time of music. That’s why I like to have a large enough song list I am comfortable with to ensure all guests will have something they hear that they will enjoy. I feel it is crucial to find an entertainer that can keep everyone happy with a wide selection of music styles.
Yes! Whilst it is not the usual, if you already have a Wedding DJ Gold Coast to take care of that side of things, I am also available to provide live music only. You might even consider having a wedding where there is no DJ and live music only is what you are looking for. I am also happy to accomodate that by providing live music from start to finish. (Except for the occasional break where I provide recorded background music).
If you are looking for a full band experience, I can help you with that too. Typically I am hired as a solo artist, however I have some great session musician friends that I work with to bring anything from a duo to a full 5 piece band experience. Obviously, the more members added, the more the cost. Most couples find that my sound as a solo artist (because I use looping pedals) creates a full sound without the extra expense of adding more band members.
We look forward to chatting with you about how we can include our live music services as a part of your special day. Feel free to contact us via the phone, or fill in a contact us form with some details about your day. We love nothing more than hearing from couples and helping them to create a magical day.
