Wedding Reviews – Why You Should Check Them
It is so important to read legitimate wedding reviews before booking any of your wedding professionals. You only have one shot at getting your perfect day perfect and surrounding yourself with a quality team is crucial.
Don’t just rely on the reviews on the website of the business. They are only going to put the “good ones” there. Check reputable sources like Google Reviews, Facebook Reviews and sites such as ABIA and Easy Weddings to see what other past couples are saying about the experience.
Check the Facebook page of the business. Do they have reviews available? If not, that is a sign that something might be wrong. Why? Because reviews on Facebook are on by default, so a business owner has to go in and manually turn off the ability for customers to leave a review. There may be a legitimate reason for this, but it does raise the question why they would turn off reviews from clients.
Also, consider how long the company has claimed to be in business against how many old Google Reviews they have. Check the dates the reviews have been left. If they are all very new, there is a possibility all the old negative reviews have been cleared out by shutting down that particular Google account and opening a fresh one. Trust me, we’ve seen this happen!
It’s always great to see positive reviews but take the time to sort the reviews by lowest first to see what is being said and why they may have received such a low review.
Take the time to check they are a registered business by doing an ABN lookup for their name. All good businesses should be registered. This is also a great place to check when they were formed to compare to their Google reviews to see if they have removed them to start fresh. If they have been in business for 10 years, but their reviews are all from only the past 2 years, that would be a potential red flag.
Wedding Reviews Are Just The Beginning
Don’t just rely on the reviews. The vendor you are looking for may have glowing reviews from other couples, but … they might not be YOUR “cup of tea”. So, make sure you take the time to also meet each and every vendor you are considering ensuring they are the match for what it is YOU are looking for. Like the saying goes, ‘What is one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!’. You might be disappointed by not investing in the time to chat to your vendors in person. This is especially relevant to those vendors that will be physically there on your day (your celebrant, your MC, your DJ, your photographer).
Some vendors don’t want to meet. That’s fine. That is their choice, but for your own piece of mind, we suggest meeting with vendors to ensure they have a positive vibe with you. Booking someone without meeting is taking a risk, regardless of how much you are saving or how confident you feel in the reviews by others.
