Slideshows at Weddings

August 8, 2022
slideshow at a wedding

Are you considering having a slideshow at your wedding?

These are always a nice touch, even just some photos of the both of you through the years over dinner gives your guests something interesting to watch.

However, if you are going to have a slide show with specific sound, remember to consider where the sound is going to be played.

A number of times I have had couples surprise me with the fact that they are running a slide show with sound and asked if I could put the sound through my system.  Whilst this might SOUND a simple thing to do, it does take prior planning to do well.

For example, often the slide show is set up nowhere even close to where I am set, so even running a long audio cable isn’t an option as it creates a trip hazard and I don’t always have a 10 meter audio cable with the correct fittings for the projector with me.

Just letting your entertainer (or venue if they are providing the sound) know of your intention prior to the day will cause a lot of heartbreak on the day when you discover the audio won’t be heard.  Simply letting us know about it means that we can plan the best way to have your slide show heard by all and your hard work won’t be for nothing.

The few times I have had this surprise dropped on me, I have been able to at least help by putting a cordless mic near the speaker output of the computer playing the audio, however it is a very poor quality sound compared to running a dedicated audio line correctly.

I hope this article has been helpful and look forward to answering any of your wedding questions.

Warmly,

Nik Reeds
