Congratulations to Kerry & Lauren who were married yesterday (the 3rd of October) on the always beautiful South Stradbroke Island. They had their ceremony and reception at “An Island Hideaway”, which is a multiple ABIA award winning venue. Whilst the morning looked like it might be threatening with a shower or two later in the day, it turned out to be blue skies with only the breeze to contend with for their beautiful wedding which they had on the beach front. Lauren made an impressive entrance on a sea-plane with the theme from Superman being played by the celebrant as the sound track. Funny and fitting, she was about to marry Kerry Steele (a.k.a. the man of Steel).
Following the ceremony, it was over to us at NikNat Entertainment to keep the guests entertained whilst the bridal couple had their photographs done. Nik played the guitar and sang for a little over an hour giving acoustic live renditions of songs by artists such as Jack Johnson, Pete Murray, The Beautiful Girls, Cat Stevens and many more. This was very well received by the guests with many commenting that they enjoyed the touch of live music and the feel it created whilst mingling with their family and friends and enjoying their canapes and drinks.
Once the guests entered the reception venue, it was time to get the party started!
The bridal party entered to the song “I Got A Feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas. There was then a pause when Nik played a reprise of the Superman theme whilst the MC introduced the newly wed Mr & Mrs Steele, the song was then cut to a more upbeat Pitbull song for them to enter the room to. With all the cameras flashing and people cheering, it looked like a couple of celebrities had just entered the room! The MC then took the reins again as he had people sit ready for their meal. Over dinner we provided some cruisy, jazzy tunes to keep the mood just perfect.
It was time to cut the cake. Lauren & Kerry chose the Def Leppard classic “Pour Some Sugar On Me”. This was not a typical song for cutting the cake, but suited the evening just perfectly and suited their fun loving personalities. Besides, what a great song!
Following speeches, it was time for our newlyweds to hit the dance floor. They danced to the classic “It’s Your Love” by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill. Following this song, Lauren’s father performed a live rendition of “I Loved Her First” by Heartland. He sang until about the halfway mark in the song and then stepped down to dance the remainder of the song with his daughter. Then it was Mum’s turn with a song called “Mama’s Song” by Carrie Underwood. Following this, it was time for everyone to hit the dance floor and we kicked things off with the classic “Can’t Take My Eye’s Off Of You” by Andy Williams. The dance floor filled quickly and stayed that way all night with a great mix of songs that everyone knew and loved.
Thanks again to Mr & Mrs Steele for choosing us as your Gold Coast DJs for your special day.
We wish you all the best of every thing.
Warmest wishes,
Nik Reeds
